Hybrid Cars: Lexus CT Boosts Sales

Sales of hybrid cars increased substantially in March 2011, with the introduction of the Lexus CT. Overall sales of hybrid cars grew by nearly 50 percent compared to February and compared to last March. The jump is impressive because it nearly tripled the 16.8 percent increase in overall auto sales compared to the prior year.
Strong sales of the Lexus CT 200h, in its first month on the market, helped boost hybrid car sales to near-record levels.
Sales of 34,082 hybrid cars were not as high as the record 40,198 sales -- in April 2008 during an historic run on gas prices -- or as high as July and August 2009 -- during the Cash-for-Clunkers program, it is nonetheless a watershed month. That's because the previous high sales months came during times of temporary government incentives, either in the form of tax credits or Cash-for-Clunkers rebates.

A lot of people end up dismissing the idea of an electric automobile because it is just not something that they are used to. So what is it about electric cars that make them so much better than our fuel driven cars? The answer is simple. They are eco-friendly, and they will save you gas money in the long run. If the advantages are so obvious, then why aren't people jumping at the thought of them?
